Private Pilot Ground School

May 1, 2021 thru July 2021

Students are trained using the Jeppesen 141 training system, and they are given stage exams to help prepare them to take the FAA Written Knowledge Exam, which can lead to flying solo and a private pilot's license.

Head Start to Aviation Summer Camp 

July 12, 2021 thru July 16, 2021

Class will cover an Introduction to Aviation History, teams will build a drone which will teach beginners the joy of flying. It is designed to develop skills in teamwork activities, eye-hand coordination and a variety of disciplines in and out of the classroom.  They will be introduced to aviation cross-country navigation using sectional charts. This will prepare them for a trip to the airport, if weather permits. They also will be provided time on the flight simulator designed to spark an interest in aviation and STEM.

Building a Plane Project

Scheduled 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month at West Point Airport

9:00AM - 12 Noon

This program is designed to pique youth's interest in aviation maintenance careers. It is a course that combines both aeronautics and shop instruction with real-world application work on the class project - a Van's model RV7 aircraft.

Drone Club

Scheduled 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at West Point Airport

9:00AM - 12 Noon

The course covers: aerodynamics, hands-on projects with SUAS (Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems) training using the quad copter, and a discovery flight in a real airplane.
